Energy Data Specialist 

CCG is seeking to engage an Energy Data Specialist to lead the curation and presentation of data on innovative clean energy technologies and business models that support sustainable energy solutions in developing countries.  The deadline for applications is 28 November 2024.   

Project Context 

The specialist will be responsible for developing, managing, and updating a comprehensive database aimed at empowering policymakers, investors, NGOs, and entrepreneurs with critical data to foster informed decision-making and accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions. 

Activities: 

  • Data Curation and Management 
  • Analyse emerging clean energy technologies, focusing on low-carbon supply, efficient demand, and smart energy delivery solutions suitable for developing countries. 
  • Collect, validate, and organize data related to innovative clean energy technologies and business models, focusing on their applicability to developing nations. 
  • Ensure data accuracy through a rigorous validation process, implementing regular updates to reflect technological advancements. 
  • Database Development and Structuring 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to structure the database to include key metrics such as technology performance, cost projections, scalability, and policy frameworks. 
  • Incorporate practical case studies, success stories, and best practices for deployment in developing countries. 
  • Design and implement user-friendly features for the database, such as search capabilities and data visualization tools. 

Period of Work and Project Budget  

The project will run between December 2024 and 31 March 2025 and the consultant will work up to 70 days during this period. Daily rate will be determined based on the length of the relevant experience and technical expertise of the selected consultant. The consultant will be subcontracted by Loughborough University. 

Deliverables: 

Report on data curation and data base development of emerging clean energy technologies and business models that support sustainable energy solutions in developing countries. 

Requirements 

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Environmental Science, Energy Systems, Data Science, or a related field. 

  • Experience: 
  • Proven expertise in directing multidisciplinary teams, managing full project cycles from proposal through implementation, and directly interfacing with high-profile clients to develop tailored solutions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex consulting environments, fostering key client relationships, driving business development, and securing major. 
  • Technical Skills: 
  • Acumen in integrating advanced modeling techniques into actionable client solutions and in aligning project outcomes with the strategic goals of leading consultancies, ensuring that insights are both innovative and aligned with the evolving needs of the energy sector. 
  • Proficiency in data collection and organization, with a strong grasp of data validation and quality assurance practices. 
  • Familiarity with clean energy technologies, including performance metrics, cost analysis, and business models. 
  • Competency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data management software. 
  • Soft Skills: 
  • Proven expertise in directing multidisciplinary teams, managing full project cycles from proposal through implementation, and directly interfacing with high-profile clients to develop tailored solutions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex consulting environments, fostering key client relationships, driving business development, and securing major. 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working with diverse stakeholders. 
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
