COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Update #1

This year, COP29 (the Conference of Parties) is being held in Azerbaijan. Because it is quite a small venue, each organisation is very limited to the number of delegates it can send. With that in mind, CCG is focussing its work on some of the most important themes being discussed.

🌍 Some highlights from a busy first day at COP29 Azerbaijan! ♻️

THE BIG STORY – MINISTER ATTENDS GREEN GRIDS PLEDGE EVENT

Our event in partnership with Green Grids Initiative and Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) – Delivering the Grids pledge – was attended by Chair of the GGI, UK Minister of Climate Kerry McCarthy. In her speech the Minister said: “We’ve shown we can decarbonise domestically, we want to partner with others to do the same globally.” She also went on to say: “I am proud to support the work of the Green Grids Initiative, working with the new Secretariat partners, NESO, the Climate Compatible Growth programme, Global Renewables Alliance, and Lucetia Group.”

CCG’s Philipp Trotter joined the panel (below) at the event ‘Women in Power – a just transition in the Global South’ which was informed by a recent University of Oxford case study on empowering women in Pakistan. SSE Renewables

EMC alumni Nam Nguyen Hoang (centre) and Oureratou Ouedraogo (second from right) met up with Mark Howells, Vivien Foster and Carla Cannone.
