Camilo Ramirez

Postdoctoral Researcher

Camilo is a postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Energy Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. His research focuses on using Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) to analyze sustainable transitions toward universal energy access. He is co-creator, developer, and maintainer of OnStove, the open-source clean cooking assessment tool that evaluates transitions to cleaner cooking solutions at a high spatial resolution. His work has provided actionable insights for policymakers in regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Kenya, and Nepal.

Camilo has also contributed to the development of the Open-Source Spatial Electrification Tool OnSSET and the Global Electrification Platform (GEP), which use GIS methods to evaluate sustainable strategies for universal electricity access. His work at CCG focuses on providing technical and training support for the OnSSET and OnStove tools. This includes developing and enhancing course material, developing new model features and supporting and coordinating the evolution of the tools with the broader community.

Camilo holds a PhD in Energy and Environmental Systems from KTH, a Master’s in Sustainable Energy Engineering from the same university and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Colombia.
