On 2 March 2026, CCG funded a workshop in Chennai on “Planning for EV Charging and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Infrastructure”, bringing together policymakers, practitioners, and researchers to explore pathways for a smarter, more resilient electrified transport future. This workshop was building on the Southern Partners Fund (SPF) aided CTEID project, and it aimed to make the research known to senior bureaucrats in Tamil Nadu state.
The conversations highlighted the importance of integrated planning across transport and energy systems, the role of V2G in enhancing grid flexibility, and the need for robust policy and institutional frameworks to support scale-up.
We were privileged to have insightful contributions from distinguished participants including Mr Sajjan Singh Chavan (Planning and Development Department), Mr Aneesh Shekhar (Managing Director, TNGECL), Ms Sudha Ramen (Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission), and Ms Asha Ajith (TNWESafe). Their perspectives grounded the discussion in practical challenges and opportunities for Tamil Nadu’s energy and transport transition.
We are grateful to all participants for their engagement and to our partners for making this workshop possible. Looking forward to building on these discussions to support evidence-based policymaking and implementation. A special thank you to Mr Alagappan (UNDP) and Tang Li for taking care of the organisation and ensuring the workshop ran smoothly.
There are several Policy Briefs summarising the key outputs from the CTEID SPF project. These were shared at the workshop and are available to read here:
