Current Practices in Results-Based Financing for Energy Access – a critical analysis of the available literature was written by Tash Perros and Marissa Bergman, both of the University College London Access to Energy Institute. Results-based Financing (RBF) allows donors to fund the distribution of energy access products directly to end-users. In advance of several new programmes pushing to meet the 2030 deadline for achieving universal access to energy, this report critically examines lessons learned across stand-alone solar and clean cooking RBF programmes. The review highlights that there are considerable opportunities for improvement throughout the RBF lifecycle.
