Carolina Rodrigues Poupinha

Carolina works as a PhD student in the division of Energy Systems at KTH. Her research is focused on advancing the Climate, Land, Energy, Water (CLEWs) framework for the integrated assessment of natural resources and climate change, and on capacity development in the field of energy and resource modelling to inform national development strategies. She is very interested in how energy and resource systems can be planned and adapted to meet societal needs more sustainably and made fit-for-context.

She joined the division as a doctoral student in 2025 and has since been involved in the RE-INTEGRATE(Re-Thinking Integrated energy systems strategies) project and capacity development activities through the Climate Compatible Growth Program (CCG) and in collaboration with the UNDESA.

Prior to her PhD studies, she worked at the intersection of research, policy, and industry – most recently as a Research Associate at the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) in Germany (2022–2024). She studied Mechanical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal (2015–2019), spent one year at KTH, through the Erasmus program.
