Embedded Researcher, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)

Dr Patience G Okyere Asante is a development researcher and GESI specialist with expertise in research, policy and advocacy, stakeholder engagement, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. She holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Ghana and brings a strong understanding of the intersection between social equity and development. Prior to joining the GESI Unit as an Embedded Researcher, she served as a Consultant for CCG, reviewing policies, legislation, and evidence on GESI in Ghana’s energy and transport sectors.

Her experience also includes administering a $1.7 million Gates Foundation-funded gender-responsive policy and advocacy project, working with organisations including WHO, the Global Fund, and Jhpiego to manage the Malaria and Gender Community of Practice. She is passionate about ensuring that climate and development transitions are inclusive, evidence-informed, and responsive to the diverse needs of women, men, and socially marginalised groups.
