The third Vietnam CCG Annual Workshop was held at the National Economics University (NEU) in Hanoi at the end of August. Over 100 people attended, including representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Construction, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and Vin University. Anna Gibson from the British Embassy in Hanoi and Ms Gam Tran from the British Council also attended.


The day began with a high-level meeting between CCG and NEU Leadership, led by Anna Gibson (British Embassy in Hanoi’s Climate Counsellor, first picture) and the Deputy Director of the National Economics University (Prof Dr Nguyen Thanh Hieu, second picture, centre).


Key speakers included Dr Le Thi Ly (Mekong Development Research Institute), who presented on the CCG-funded Flexible Research Fund project “Acacia plantations – a feasible, sustainable and inclusive way out for coal miners in Vietnam”; Professor Jon Cullen (University of Cambridge on the CCG-funded Southern Partnership Fund project “Dynamic material flow analysis study of foundation materials and critical minerals in Vietnam”; and Dr Sounthisack Phommachanh (National University of Laos) who spoke about the CCG Centre For Excellence in Green Finance for the National University of Laos.


Two panel discussions were held on “the green transition in transport and construction” and “university education and capacity building for the green transition”
