Overview
CCG has been working with India since November 2022, as CCG’s sixth partner country. CCG has recently finalised the coordinating institutions, which are split into two, one based in the North of India, and one in the South.
At COP26 in Glasgow, India announced the Panchamrit (Hindustan Times and Rödl & Partner), or five-point agenda, which provided key targets to be achieved by 2030, and its net zero target of 2070. Therefore, CCG is ensuring its engagement is aligned with this high-level policy steer and some of the other India-UK initiatives in green energy and transport. These include the India-UK Energy for Growth Partnership, the UK-India Green Finance Taskforce, and the Electric Mobility Partnership.

South India CCG Network

The North India CCG Network
The CCG Country Partnerships team, led by the Centre for Global Equality, has recently partnered with Panjab University (PU) to be the coordination institution of the northern region of India. PU conducts research and delivers programmes that are well-aligned with CCG’s research expertise and strives to further support evidence-based decision making in India.
The India CCG Network – Chandigarh is managed by Prof Ramanjit Johal and Prof Suman Mor. This team will support all ongoing and future northern India-based CCG activities and contribute to the future strategy and direction of CCG engagement in the country. As CCG continues to establish its presence in India, the network will prioritise its support in areas such as energy, transport, and finance.
This partnership was launched at an Inception Workshop in Chandigarh in December 2024. We were honoured to have British Deputy High Commissioner Chandigarh, Caroline Rowett, and Yojna Rawat, Director of the University’s Research Cell, as our guests of honour. The partnership aligns with the strategic vision of Punjab University and will expand the global platform for collaborative research on climate change and a just energy transition. The Country Partnerships team is excited to be working with such an esteemed institution and team, and looks forward to the next few years building up our collaboration and impact.
