CCG’s Mini-sabbaticals are organised in collaboration with the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP)

The Catalyst Facility Trust Fund, jointly implemented by CCG and ICTP, offers sabbatical opportunities for academics and policymakers from low- and middle-income countries to produce high-quality research papers or policy documents. Participants will use open-source modelling tools during their stay.
Purpose
The aim is to provide participants with dedicated time away from their usual duties, allowing them to focus on research or policy development in collaboration with international peers.
This initiative is designed to strengthen long-term skills and impact, particularly through ongoing capacity-building to continue work achieved during other training programmes
Key Outcomes
- For Academics: Produce an academic paper suitable for submission to an international journal.
- For Policymakers: Develop a whitepaper or policy document relevant to their field.
Duration
Participants must visit ICTP twice over two consecutive years. Each visit should last between 21 and 30 days.
Eligibility
- Must be based in a developing country.
- Must have completed an Energy Modelling Platform course and earnt a Badge in the relevant modelling tool.
- Academics and policymakers are eligible, and may be accompanied by a junior analyst/researcher, subject to justification and evidence for their participation.
Funding
- Round-trip airfare and accommodation at ICTP guesthouses provided.
- Fixed Living Allowance (FLA) of 30 EUR per night.
- Research Grant (amount TBC) upon successful submission of the academic paper or policy document.
